MLI500 Leadership Proposal: Writing GAS Goals That Actually Measure Something
MLI500 Leadership and Innovation Assessment 3 needs at least three leadership strategies, and each needs a Goal Attainment Scaling (GAS) goal. Many groups write GAS levels that are vague ("staff feel safer"). Markers want indicators they could actually observe.
A GAS goal runs from −2 to +2. Here is the pattern for a psychological-safety strategy:
- −2: team survey score falls below baseline
- −1: score unchanged
- 0 (expected): score up 10% and 70% of teams run monthly blameless reviews
- +1: score up 15% and 85% of teams run reviews
- +2: score up 20%+ and innovation ideas submitted double
Link each strategy to a theory (authentic, empowering, transformational, LMX, adaptive or servant leadership), and back your diagnosis with evidence in the mandatory appendix.
